Snap2Shop Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 26, 2026
Snap2Shop (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Snap2Shop visual search app available through the Shopify App Store. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard data when merchants install or use the app, and how merchants can exercise their privacy choices.
Information We Collect
- Shopify account details. When you install the app, Shopify shares your store name, .myshopify.com domain, plan tier, time zone, and primary contact information so we can authenticate requests and provide support.
- Catalog and media content. We access product titles, descriptions, variants, pricing, availability, and associated media files to power visual search indexing and show accurate matches to shoppers.
- Visual search submissions. When shoppers upload or capture images through your store, we temporarily process those files to generate similarity scores. Images are cached only for the time needed to fulfill the search and troubleshoot issues.
- Usage and diagnostics. We log anonymized analytics such as similarity thresholds used, widget interactions, search latency, device type, and IP-derived region to keep the service reliable and detect abuse.
- Support communications. Emails or in-app messages you send to snap2shopinfo@gmail.com, plus any attachments you choose to include.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate requests between your store, Shopify APIs, and the Snap2Shop service.
- Generate and improve visual search results, recommendations, and analytics dashboards.
- Configure customization settings you choose (eligible collections, CTA labels, badges, etc.).
- Monitor performance, secure the service, and investigate errors, fraud, or policy violations.
- Respond to merchant inquiries, provide onboarding help, and deliver status updates.
How We Share Information
We do not sell merchant data or shopper images. We share information only with trusted subprocessors that help us operate the app (for example, hosting on Render.com, storage, or monitoring providers) under contracts that require confidentiality and data protection. We may also share information if required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or valid governmental requests.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain store configuration data and analytics for as long as your shop has the app installed. Search events and click analytics are anonymized after 24 months, aggregated reports after 36 months, and temporary visual search uploads are deleted once results are generated unless they are needed to resolve an open support ticket. When you uninstall the app or send a Shopify GDPR webhook (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact), we remove or anonymize related data in accordance with Shopify requirements.
Your Rights and Choices
- Merchants can view or delete stored data by contacting us or triggering Shopify GDPR webhooks.
- Shoppers should direct data requests to the merchant; we assist merchants in fulfilling those requests by responding to Shopify’s GDPR notifications.
- You may opt out of non-essential communications by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or replying to request removal.
Security
Snap2Shop uses encryption in transit, role-based access controls, logging, and automated anonymization routines to protect stored data. No system is perfectly secure, so we continually monitor for vulnerabilities and remediate issues in coordination with Shopify requirements.
International Transfers
The service is hosted in the United States. If you operate in other regions, installing the app authorizes transferring the data described above to the United States, where it is processed under this policy and applicable Shopify agreements.
Children
The app is intended for Shopify merchants and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational practices. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, when appropriate, notify merchants via email or in-app message.
